License status
Definition
License status is the current state of a mortgage license in official records—such as whether it is active or not. It is a field on a license record, not the license itself.
In plain English
NMLS Consumer Access and state records show licenses for companies and individuals. Status tells a reader whether that license is currently in force under the record’s labels. Status labels are set by the regulator that issued the license. This page does not list every possible label.
Technical definition
NMLS Consumer Access is the official public lookup for many mortgage licenses. Its about page is the PRIMARY identity for this display field.
Why it matters
US Mortgage Index profiles may show a license status. Readers need the field idea, not a legal opinion about authority to lend.

Important note
A glossary definition of status is not a determination that a company may originate or service loans.
