Public data sources

Institution profiles are compiled from official public sources. Listing a source does not imply endorsement of this platform by that source.

National institution coverage: US Mortgage Index publishes source-backed profiles of mortgage lenders and reporting institutions. Bank profiles currently use official FDIC institution records. Credit-union profiles currently use NCUA federally insured credit-union records. Additional institution categories appear here only when they are published.

Coverage is source-specific. Published profiles are not a complete NMLS universe and do not represent every mortgage lender, broker, or mortgage company in the United States.

Currently published: 4,254 banks · 4,250 credit unions · 511 mortgage companies · 9,015 total public institution profiles

FDIC BankFind Suite

Source type: Official federal banking-regulator data from the FDIC BankFind Suite.

Scope: Nationwide active FDIC-insured institution export used for bank baseline profiles. FDIC is not a default source for credit unions or mortgage companies.

Headquarters location identifies where a bank is based. It is not the same as branch presence or every market where the institution serves customers. Aggregate domestic office counts, when shown, are not branch-location records.

NCUA — List of Active Federally Insured Credit Unions

Period: 2026 Q1.

Scope: 4,250 active federally insured credit unions.

Provides institution identity, membership, assets, loans, shares/deposits, ratios, and growth metrics for federally insured credit unions. NCUA is not a default source for banks or mortgage companies. Source addresses in this file are mailing addresses.

Total loans include all reported loan categories and are not mortgage-specific volume. NCUA data does not by itself establish NMLS licensing or HMDA reporting.

NMLS Consumer Access

Company identifiers, licensing status signals, and registered MLO counts where an independent NMLS match has been verified. Absence of an NMLS company ID does not prove that no NMLS record exists, and USMI does not currently publish a complete NMLS universe.

HMDA / FFIEC data publication

Public mortgage activity publication used for activity-year and search status fields. HMDA/CFPB activity can cover depositories and nondepositories. Being an HMDA reporter does not by itself establish every mortgage-market role.

OCC institution search

National bank charter details and LEI confirmation where used in the staging compilation. OCC charter fields are bank-specific and are not inherited by mortgage company profiles.
